Detailing basics
How often should I get my vehicle detailed?
It depends on how you use your vehicle. For most daily drivers we recommend a full detail every three to six months to maintain cleanliness, protect surfaces, and preserve value. Vehicles exposed to harsh conditions may benefit from more frequent care. In New England, extra attention right after winter goes a long way.
What is the difference between a car wash and detailing?
A car wash focuses on surface-level cleaning, while detailing is a deep, restorative process. Detailing includes thorough interior cleaning, paint care, decontamination, and protection to improve both appearance and longevity.
How long does a detailing service take?
Service time varies depending on the package and the condition of the vehicle. A basic detail may take a few hours, while more advanced services like paint correction or ceramic coating can take a full day or more.
Do I need to prepare my vehicle before my appointment?
No preparation is required. We recommend removing personal belongings if possible, but we handle the rest. Our goal is to make the process as convenient and stress-free as possible for you.
Are your products safe for my vehicle?
Yes. We use professional-grade, industry-trusted products that are safe for all vehicle surfaces. Every product is carefully selected to ensure effective results without causing damage.
Is detailing worth the cost?
Regular detailing helps maintain your vehicle's appearance, protects its surfaces, and preserves resale value. It is an investment in both aesthetics and long-term protection, and in Rhode Island the road salt and moisture make protective services pay off faster than they would in a milder climate.
Do you do mobile detailing?
Our work is done at the shop at 147 Snake Hill Road in North Scituate. Paint correction and coating installations in particular require controlled lighting and a controlled environment to be done properly.
Can you handle heavy pet hair, sand, or odors?
Yes. Pet hair removal and shampoo with hot water extraction are both available as add-ons, and heavier condition is factored into the quote. Tell us what you are dealing with up front so the time is allocated for it.
Costs, quotes, and appointments
How do I book an appointment?
The fastest way is online booking, where you pick your services, see exact pricing for your vehicle, and choose a time. You can also call or text us, or send an inquiry and we will help you choose the right service.
Why is pricing based on my vehicle instead of a flat rate?
Three things move the price: vehicle size, condition, and level of service. A two-door car has far less surface area, glass, and upholstery than a three-row SUV or a pickup, and a car detailed twice a year turns around much faster than one with years of built-up grime.
Can you give me a price over the phone or by email?
Usually yes, especially with photos. Paint condition is nearly impossible to judge from a description, so a few outdoor daylight photos let us quote much more accurately. Heavy paint correction sometimes needs an in-person look before we commit to a number.
What if my vehicle needs more work than what I booked?
We call you first, with photos, before doing anything extra. You will never pick up a vehicle and find a bigger bill than the one you agreed to.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, and all major credit cards.
How far in advance should I book?
It varies with the season. Spring and early summer fill up fastest, and coating work books further out than a standard detail because it occupies a full day or more. Reach out and we will tell you what is available.

Paint correction and ceramic coatings
Can detailing remove scratches and imperfections?
Light scratches and swirl marks can often be significantly reduced or removed through paint correction. Deeper scratches may not be fully removable, but we can improve their appearance and protect the surrounding finish.
Which level of paint correction does my car need?
Well maintained vehicles usually only need a one-step. Daily drivers with swirls visible in sunlight generally land on a two-step. Heavily neglected or oxidized paint needs a three-step. Send us daylight photos and we will tell you which one applies.
Will you tell me if my paint is too thin to correct?
Yes, always. The paint is measured with a professional-grade electronic paint gauge before we polish. If an area is too thin to correct safely, you get photos and the gauge readings and a call to discuss options before we go ahead.
Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating?
Yes. A coating locks in whatever finish is underneath it, so applying one over swirled or oxidized paint seals those defects in for years. At minimum we perform a one-step correction first.
Will a ceramic coating make my car scratch-proof?
No, and anyone telling you otherwise is overselling. Coatings protect against UV, oxidation, road salt, sap, bug splatter, water spots, and light chemical contamination, and they reduce very light wash-induced marring. They do not prevent rock chips, deep scratches, key scratches, door dings, or collision damage. For impact protection you want paint protection film.
How long does a ceramic coating last?
It depends on the system installed and how the vehicle is maintained. Options range from shorter-term coatings up to premium long-term systems measured in years. Washing technique has a large effect on real-world lifespan.
Can I take a coated car through a car wash?
Touchless washes are fine. Avoid automatic washes with brushes, since those are one of the main causes of swirl marks and will shorten the useful life of the coating.
Can you fix another detailer's holograms or buffer trails?
Usually, yes. Holograms and buffer trails are surface defects in the clear coat and correcting them is one of the more common jobs we take on. We will confirm after inspection and a paint measurement.
Headlights, trim, tint, and gift cards
What is the difference between your two headlight restoration options?
The full 2K clearcoat option is a permanent-style finish with years of durability, best for vehicles you plan to keep. The polish and protective coating option is more affordable and gives up to 18 months of protection, which suits leases and short-term ownership. Both fully restore clarity. Why do DIY headlight kits stop working after a few months?
Most kits polish the surface without fully removing the degraded factory UV layer, and the protection they include is a temporary wipe-on product. Once that wears off, the exposed polycarbonate oxidizes again quickly.
Should I get a trim dressing or a trim restoration?
Dressings work for slightly faded trim but only last around two to three weeks in dry conditions. If your trim is heavily faded, chalky, or looks striped in sections, it needs a restoration coating that bonds into the plastic instead of sitting on top of it.
Will removing my window tint damage the rear defroster?
Not with a heat-assisted process. The damage people worry about comes from razor blades and fast dry peeling, neither of which we use on rear glass. See the tint removal page for the full process.
My tint is too dark for Rhode Island. Can you remove it?
Yes, and removal is what brings the vehicle back into compliance. Rhode Island is one of the strictest states in the country on window tint, so this comes up often. Confirm current requirements with the RI DMV or your inspection station, since we cannot speak for how any specific vehicle will be assessed.
Can I buy a gift card for someone?
Yes, in any amount, as an e-gift card or a physical card. It is good toward any service or add-on we offer. See the gift cards page.
Do you offer engine bay cleaning?
Yes, as an add-on. Plastic components are scrubbed, dust and leaves are blown out, and protection is applied. All fuses, electrical components, the alternator, the battery, and anything that should not get wet are covered and protected first.
