A true ceramic coating is a professional-grade liquid polymer system that is properly installed and chemically bonds to your vehicle's factory clear coat after full surface preparation and paint correction.
This is not a store-bought or DIY spray coating. Those products are temporary sealants that sit on top of the surface and wear off quickly. Our coatings are professional systems designed for long-term durability, chemical resistance, and a permanent bond when installed correctly.

Proper paint correction is critical
Before any ceramic coating is applied, the condition of the paint must be properly corrected. This step is what separates a true professional installation from an average or rushed job.
Paint correction is the process of safely leveling and refining the clear coat to remove imperfections such as swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, water spots, and haze. Done correctly, it restores clarity and creates a flawless surface for the coating to bond to.
At Rubino Auto Detailing we take paint correction seriously and ensure it is performed to a high standard. That means:
- No holograms left behind from improper machine polishing
- No buffer trails or uneven polishing marks
- No marring caused by dirty pads or poor technique
- No hazing or dulling of the finish from overworking the paint
We use proper lighting, controlled polishing methods, and refined finishing techniques so the paint is left crisp, clear, and defect-free before any coating is applied. Paint Coating
Years of durable protection with superior gloss, depth, and hydrophobic performance. Requires at least a one-step paint correction first, which is why it is quoted per vehicle rather than sold at a fixed price. Ask us and we will price it around the condition of your paint.
Wheel Coating
A wheel coating for future ease of cleaning, with unrivaled gloss and one to two years of protection depending on maintenance. Brake dust and road grime release far more easily once wheels are coated. $125 for wheels up to 20 inches, $200 for 21 inches and up, wheel faces only.
Not recommended for heavily tarnished or damaged wheels.
Window Coating
A glass coating good for up to two years or 20,000 miles. Glass is prepped with a deep cleaning and polish of all windows for minor water spot removal before the coating is applied.
Heavy water spots may not be able to be removed fully.
Trim Coating
A trim coating applied to all exterior plastics to restore old, faded trim or to enhance and protect the original factory finish, with up to 18 months of protection. Must be added to an exterior detail. Price varies with the amount and condition of the trim.
Bringing faded plastic trim back
Over time, exterior plastic trim can begin to fade, turn gray, or appear chalky. This is caused primarily by prolonged exposure to UV rays, heat cycles, road salt, and environmental contaminants. Unlike painted surfaces, most exterior trim is made from textured or semi-porous plastic that is not naturally UV-stable, which leads to oxidation and color loss over time.
Plastic trim is commonly found on mirror housings, window moldings, bumpers, and the panels below the doors. These components are designed to be durable and flexible, but they are still vulnerable to sun damage and environmental wear.
A professional trim restoration coating penetrates and bonds to the surface of the plastic, restoring depth, richness, and a darker, more uniform appearance. It also adds a layer of UV protection that helps slow future fading and keeps the trim looking significantly better than untreated surfaces.

Inspection and paint measurement
We evaluate the finish under proper lighting and measure clear coat thickness with a professional-grade electronic paint gauge before anything else happens.
Decontamination wash
Thorough hand wash, iron and fallout removal to dissolve embedded particles, and clay treatment to lift bonded surface contamination.
Paint correction
Machine polishing to level swirls, light scratches, oxidation, and water spot etching out of the clear coat, then refined to maximum clarity and gloss.
Surface prep and panel wipe
Every panel is stripped of polishing oils so the coating bonds to bare clear coat rather than residue.
Coating installation and cure
The coating is applied panel by panel under controlled lighting, leveled, then given the proper cure time before the vehicle leaves the shop.

How much does a ceramic coating cost in Rhode Island?
Paint coatings are quoted per vehicle rather than sold at a fixed price, because the total depends on the size of your vehicle and how much correction the paint needs first. Trim, window, and wheel coatings are priced and bookable online. Send us photos of your paint and we will come back with a real number.
Do I really need paint correction before a coating?
Yes. A coating locks in whatever finish is underneath it. If the paint has swirls, oxidation, or etching, the coating seals those defects in for years. At minimum we perform a one-step correction so you are protecting a finish worth protecting.
How long does a ceramic coating last?
It depends on the system installed and how the vehicle is maintained. Options range from shorter-term coatings up to premium long-term systems measured in years. Proper washing technique has a large effect on real-world lifespan.
Can I still take a coated car through a car wash?
Touchless washes are fine. Avoid automatic washes with brushes, since those are one of the main causes of swirl marks in the first place and will shorten the useful life of the coating.
Will a ceramic coating stop rock chips?
No. Coatings are chemical and UV protection, not impact protection. For rock chips and physical impact you want paint protection film, which is often combined with a coating for full coverage.
How long will my vehicle be at the shop?
A correction and coating together typically takes a full day or more depending on the condition of the paint and the level of correction needed. We will give you a realistic timeline when you book.
