Why Johnston drivers come here first
Johnston has plenty of places that will run a car through a tunnel in four minutes. What it does not have many of is a shop that will spend a full day on one vehicle, measure the paint before touching it with a machine, and hand it back looking better than the day it was bought.
That is the whole business here. We are a two-person shop, not a volume operation, so we take a small number of cars at a time and finish each one properly. Nothing gets rushed through to make room for the next appointment, and nothing gets handed off to a rotating crew.
For an express detail that difference is modest. For paint correction, a ceramic coating, or an interior that has had a few hard years of school runs and job sites, it is the entire job. Those are the appointments people drive over for, and they are most of what fills our calendar.
What Johnston miles do to a car
Johnston cars wear in a specific way. When a vehicle comes in from Hartford Avenue, Atwood Avenue or Putnam Pike, we are usually looking at the same short list of problems.
Commuter miles and road film
Route 6, Route 44 and the 295 interchange are constant stop-and-go. That means brake dust, tar spotting along the rockers and a dull film of road grime that a wash lifts off the top of and leaves bonded underneath. Decontamination is what actually removes it.
Truck traffic and construction grit
Johnston carries a lot of heavy traffic for its size. The fine abrasive grit that comes off those routes lands on paint and gets dragged across it every time the car is wiped down dry. That is where a large share of swirl marks actually come from.
Winter salt and brine
Rhode Island treats the roads hard from December through March. Salt gets into door jambs, wheel wells and rocker panels, and it stays there. Coming out of winter is the single best time to strip it off and put protection back down.
Driveway parking under trees
Most of Johnston parks at home rather than on the street, and a lot of those driveways sit under cover. Sap, pollen and bird droppings are acidic. Left on hot paint they etch a mark a wash will not lift and that has to be polished out.
Family vehicles and work trucks
Kids, dogs, job sites and coffee. Carpets and upholstery take the worst of it, and a vacuum only reaches the top layer. Shampoo and hot water extraction pulls what is down in the fibers out instead of pushing it deeper.
Yellowed, hazy headlights
Older lenses cloud over and cut your light output at night, which matters on the unlit stretches out toward Scituate and Foster. Sanding the oxidation off and laying down a real automotive clear coat brings them back and keeps them back.
Detailing services for Johnston customers
Everything below is available to anyone driving over from Johnston. Pricing is quoted by vehicle, because a compact sedan and a three-row SUV are not the same job.
Full interior and exterior detailing
Hand wash, wheels and tires, door jambs, glass inside and out, compressor blowout and vacuum, steam cleaning through the dash and console, leather cleaned and protected, and protectant applied throughout. Express exterior and interior details from $30 are there for a maintained car that just needs a reset.
Paint correction
One, two and three step correction to remove swirls, scratches and defects. Paint is measured with an electronic gauge first, and if an area is too thin to correct safely you get photos and a gauge reading before we go any further.
Ceramic coatings
Coatings for paint, trim, glass and wheels. Long-term protection and far easier cleaning, which is worth real money on a car that lives in a driveway through a New England winter.
Headlight restoration
Lenses sanded through 600, 800, 1000, 1500 and 2000 grit to take out the yellowing and clear coat cracking, then finished with a true 2K automotive clear coat rather than a wipe-on sealant.
Interior detailing
Compressor blowout, steam through the dash and console, leather cleaned and protected, mats scrubbed, and shampoo and extraction for the salt stains, pet hair, and spills that Johnston commutes leave behind. From $150.
Tint removal
Old, purple, bubbling, or non-compliant window film removed with controlled heat so the rear defroster lines come through intact. Quoted per vehicle. Faded exterior plastics can be handled in the same visit with trim restoration.
The drive over from Johnston
The shop is at 147 Snake Hill Road, North Scituate, RI 02857. From most of Johnston it is a ten to fifteen minute run, straight west on Hartford Avenue and Route 6, or up Putnam Pike through Greenville if you are coming from the north end of town.
Parking is on site. Most customers drop the car and head back, and we call or text when it is ready. For longer jobs like a multi-stage correction or a coating, the vehicle stays with us for the day and sometimes overnight, which we will tell you when we quote it.
Before you come over, it is worth reading our vehicle drop-off policy so you know what to expect on timing and what to take out of the car.
Johnston neighborhoods and the towns around it
Customers come to the shop from across Providence County and Kent County. These are the areas we see most often.
In Johnston: Thornton, Graniteville, Simmonsville, Belknap, Hughesdale, Morgan Mill, and the corridors along Atwood Avenue, Hartford Avenue, Central Avenue, Greenville Avenue and Putnam Pike.
Driving in from somewhere else? We also have pages for car detailing in Providence, car detailing in Cranston and car detailing in Pawtucket.
Our shop is in North Scituate. We do not have a Johnston location, and every vehicle is worked on here at 147 Snake Hill Road.
What detailing costs, and why we quote by vehicle
We do not publish one flat price, because the same service on two different cars is genuinely two different jobs. A well-kept sedan and a three-row SUV that has carried two kids and a dog through a winter take very different amounts of time, product and labor.
The honest way to price it is by the vehicle and its condition. The booking tool walks you through size and services and shows you the exact price as you build the appointment, so you see the number before you commit to anything.

Questions from Johnston customers
How far is the shop from Johnston?
Ten to fifteen minutes for most of town. We are at 147 Snake Hill Road in North Scituate, RI 02857, straight west on Hartford Avenue and Route 6, with on-site parking.
How long will my car be with you?
An express detail is a short appointment. A full interior and exterior detail is most of a day. Multi-stage paint correction and ceramic coating work often runs a full day or longer, and we tell you the realistic timeline when we quote the job rather than after you have dropped the car.
Can I wait while it is done?
For a short express detail, some customers do. For anything longer it is easier to drop the car and let us call or text you when it is ready. Since Johnston is only a few minutes away, most people head home and come back.
My car is covered in swirl marks. Can that be fixed?
Almost always. Swirls and light scratches sit in the clear coat, and removing them is what paint correction does. We measure the paint with an electronic gauge before any machine work, and if an area is too thin to correct safely we show you the photos and the reading and talk through the options before continuing.
Do you detail trucks and work vans?
Yes. Cars, trucks and SUVs are all welcome, and larger vehicles are simply quoted for the size and condition they arrive in. Tell us what you are bringing when you book and we will schedule the right amount of time for it.
When is the best time of year to book?
Coming out of winter is the highest-value time, because that is when road salt and brine need to come off and protection needs to go back down. Fall is the other strong window, since going into winter with a coating or a fresh sealant makes the next five months much easier on the car.
How do I book?
Online, in about two minutes, with no phone call. Pick your services, see the price as you go, and choose a time. Book online here, or send us your vehicle details if you would rather have us recommend something first.
