Steam, extraction, and patience

Interior Car Detailing in Rhode Island

A real interior detail is not a vacuum and a wipe-down. It is compressed air through every seam, steam through the dash and console, leather cleaned and fed, mats scrubbed, and hot water extraction pulling out what a winter of road salt, a dog, or two car seats left behind. Done one vehicle at a time at our shop in North Scituate.

What you get

What an interior detail includes

Every interior detail runs the same sequence, whether the car is a two-door commuter or a three-row SUV that hauls a hockey team. The only things that change are how long it takes and what condition we start from.

  • Air compressor blowout of every seam, vent, and track, then a full vacuum
  • Interior scrub and steam cleaning of the dash, cupholders, doors, and consoles
  • Leather seats cleaned and protected
  • Rubber floor mats cleaned and treated with a non-slip protectant
  • Door jambs cleaned
  • Interior protectant applied to plastics and vinyl
  • Windows cleaned inside and out

Leather and rubber mat steps apply to vehicles equipped with those surfaces. Cloth seats and carpeted mats are vacuumed and spot-treated as part of the detail, and shampooed if you add extraction.

What Rhode Island interiors go through

The six things we clean out most often

Most interiors that come through the shop have one or two of these going on. None of them are a problem. They just tell us where the time goes.

01

Winter salt stains

White rings on the carpet and mats from December through April. Salt is water-soluble, so it comes out, but it takes hot water extraction, not a vacuum and a brush.

02

Pet hair

Dog hair weaves itself into carpet and cloth seats and laughs at a normal vacuum. We lift it with compressed air and rubber brushes before the vacuum ever touches it. Heavy pet hair adds time, so tell us when you book.

03

Kids and car seats

Crumbs in the seat tracks, juice in the cupholders, crayon on the door panel. Compressed air gets under the car seat base and into the rails, and steam handles the sticky stuff.

04

Sand and beach trips

Sand from Narragansett or Scarborough works its way under the mats and into the carpet backing. The blowout is what gets it moving so the vacuum can actually collect it.

05

Coffee, spills, and stains

Old spills that have set into cloth need shampoo and extraction. We pre-treat, agitate, and pull the stain out with hot water rather than pushing it deeper into the foam.

06

Odors and smoke

Most smells live in the carpet, the headliner, and the vents. Cleaning the source properly gets rid of a lot of it. We will tell you honestly what an extraction can and cannot do for a heavy smoke car.

Options and pricing

Interior detailing options and what they cost

Starting prices are for a coupe or sedan. Midsize and large SUVs, and light and heavy duty pickups, price higher because there is simply more of them. Online booking shows the exact number for your vehicle.

Service Starts at About how long Best for
Express interior $30 20 minutes A maintained car that needs a vacuum, a wipe-down, and clean glass
Interior detail $150 2 to 3 hours The full sequence above. Blowout, steam, leather, mats, protectant, glass
Full detail, interior and exterior $250 Most of a day The whole car at once. Cheaper than booking the two halves separately
Shampoo and extraction add-on From $75 Added to the detail Set-in stains, salt rings, pet accidents, and anything that has soaked into the fabric

Interior detail by vehicle size

VehicleInterior detail
Coupe or sedan$150
Midsize or two-row SUV$175
Light duty pickup$225
Large or three-row SUV$300
Heavy duty pickup$300

Shampoo and extraction

AreaPrice
Seats only, 2 seats$75
Seats only, 4 seats$150
Seats only, 6 seats$225
Floors only, 2-row / 3-row$100 / $140
Full vehicle incl. trunk, 2-row / 3-row$225 / $350
Condition matters as much as size. A car detailed twice a year turns around quickly. Heavy pet hair, sand, old spills, or a few years of build-up take longer and occasionally need an extra day. If your interior is in rough shape, say so when you book and we will plan the time properly rather than rushing it.

How it goes

How we detail an interior

The order matters. Loosen everything first, remove it second, clean the surfaces third, protect last. Skip a step or do them out of order and you push dirt around instead of taking it out.

Blowout

Compressed air through seat tracks, vents, seams, cupholders, and under the seats. This is what makes the vacuum actually work.

Vacuum

Carpets, seats, mats, trunk. Pet hair is worked loose with rubber brushes first so it comes up instead of sliding around.

Steam and scrub

Dash, console, door panels, cupholders, and vents. Steam lifts grime out of textured plastic and kills what is living in it without soaking the electronics.

Leather and fabric

Leather is cleaned and protected so it stays soft rather than shiny. Cloth is spot-treated, or shampooed and extracted if you have added that.

Mats and jambs

Rubber mats scrubbed and treated with a non-slip protectant. Door jambs cleaned, because they are the first thing you see every time you open the door.

Protect and finish

Interior protectant on plastics and vinyl, glass cleaned inside and out, and a final check under lighting before it is handed back.

When a vacuum is not enough

Interior detail versus shampoo and extraction

People ask which one they need. The honest answer is that it depends on whether the problem is on the surface or in the fibers.

Interior detail handles
  • Dust, crumbs, sand, and loose dirt
  • Grime on the dash, console, and door panels
  • Light pet hair
  • Fingerprints, film, and haze on the glass
  • Dull leather that needs cleaning and conditioning
  • Rubber mats that have gone gray

This is the right call for a car that is dirty but not stained.

Add shampoo and extraction for
  • Salt rings and water stains on carpet
  • Coffee, soda, and food spills that have set
  • Pet accidents and the smell that comes with them
  • Cloth seats that look gray instead of their real color
  • Heavy pet hair ground into the carpet backing
  • Anything you would describe as "soaked in"

Hot water and a pre-treatment go in, the dirty water comes back out. That is the difference.

Where we are

Interior detailing near Providence, Cranston, Johnston and Pawtucket

Everything is done at our shop at 147 Snake Hill Road in North Scituate. That is about ten minutes from Johnston, twenty from downtown Providence, and twenty-five from Pawtucket and Cranston, and a large share of the interiors on our schedule come out from those towns. City cars carry the commute: coffee, sidewalk grit, road salt, and a dog in the back seat.

An interior detail is a drop-off appointment. A full one takes a few hours, and a full interior and exterior detail is most of the day. If you are driving in, each of our area pages covers the route and the drop-off: Providence, Cranston, Johnston and Pawtucket.

We do not offer mobile interior detailing. Steam, extraction, and compressed air need power, water, and a lit bay, and the results are better when the car is here.

While the car is here

Most people who book the interior end up doing the outside too. It is priced lower as a full detail than as two separate visits.

Questions

Interior detailing questions

How much does interior car detailing cost in Rhode Island?

Our interior detail starts at $150 for a coupe or sedan and runs up to $300 for a large SUV or heavy duty pickup. Shampoo and extraction is an add-on from $75. A full interior and exterior detail starts at $250, which is less than booking the two halves separately. Online booking shows the exact price for your vehicle.

How long does an interior detail take?

Plan on two to three hours for a coupe or sedan in average condition. Larger vehicles, heavy pet hair, or shampoo and extraction add time. A full interior and exterior detail is most of a day. We tell you the realistic timeline when you book rather than after you have dropped the car.

Can you get pet hair out?

Yes. Compressed air and rubber brushes loosen it before the vacuum, and extraction pulls out what has worked into the carpet backing. Very heavy pet hair takes longer, so let us know when you book and we will price the time honestly.

Will the salt stains on my carpet come out?

Almost always. Salt is water-soluble, so hot water extraction dissolves and removes it. What a vacuum leaves behind as a white ring, extraction takes out. Coming out of winter is the single most popular time to book this.

Can you remove smells?

Most odors come from something in the carpet, seats, or vents, and cleaning that source properly removes a lot of the smell. Heavy cigarette smoke that has soaked into the headliner and foam is harder, and we would rather tell you that up front than promise a miracle. Ask us and we will give you a straight answer for your car.

Do you clean leather seats?

Yes. Leather is cleaned with a dedicated leather cleaner and then protected so it stays soft and matte rather than slick and shiny. Perforated and light-colored leather gets extra care because it shows everything.

Should I empty the car before I drop it off?

Please take personal belongings, car seats if you can, and anything in the trunk you need. We can work around the rest, but an empty car gets a better detail because we can reach everything. Our drop-off policy has the details.

How often should I get the interior detailed?

For most daily drivers, once or twice a year keeps it in good shape, with an express interior in between. If you have a dog, kids, or a long commute, spring is the one to never skip, because that is when the salt comes out.
